Garmin eTrex GPS units 

A Garmin eTrex Handheld GPS is a very cool piece of equipment to have in your outdoor tackle box that can give you peace of mind.  If you are just looking to purchase one of these units, I'm glad I have gotten to you in time.  Really, take a serious look at the Garmin eTrex Handheld GPS Navigator. These handheld units are a perfect device for the outdoor enthusiast who does not want to get lost and then have the embarrassment of telling their buddies what really happened. 

The eTrex GPS is made specifically for driving, boating, hiking, snowmobiling, skiing, biking, or camping.  It is one of the simplest-to-use units on the market. It can track up to 12 satellites so you will never lose contact with one. One drawback is if you are inside a building or searching for gold or silver in tunnels the eTrex won't find the satellites.  So don’t get greedy looking for buried treasure underground or lost in a building and expect it to work correctly!

Otherwise, the eTrex unit is very sensitive and it will keep an accurate location by locking onto satellites while you are out enjoying your “outdoor” adventures. The Garmin eTrex GPS is not only durable and rugged, but it’s small enough to hold easily in your hand. This unit is also completely waterproof so it can handle if it get dunked or wet, but don’t keep it totally submerged for long periods of time.  The screen is easy on the eyes. The unit is simple to operate and the quick-start operational manual will get you up and tracking in no time.

TheeTrex GPS handheld will run up between 18-22 hours on just two AA batteries. The antenna is internal and there is an external power and data connector which are protected as well.  It can create and store names, and save up to 500 locations known as an electronic waypoint in its memory.  On the outside of the handheld eTrex unit, there are 2 buttons on one side and 3 buttons on the other.  The yellow color allows you to find it easily. It is waterproof so it can be submerged in water briefly. It is not recommended that you submerge it for long periods of time.

The eTrex GPS is a wonderful safety device should you ever hike alone (which you shouldn’t do), but you’ll have the latest technology to help you find your way like a champ.
